What to know before you use a stablecoin on/off-ramp

Xago

An on/off-ramp is simple to describe and varied in practice. Here is what finance teams should understand about each stage, from onboarding to payout, and the questions worth asking any provider.

Before you start: onboarding

Each relationship begins with standard KYC (individuals) or KYB (businesses). Xago guides you through each step and gives you a verified account, the essential starting point for every transaction that follows.

Ask: which currencies and corridors do you service, and what does onboarding involve?

Funding: fiat or stablecoin

Xago supports funding with fiat or stablecoin. The route your funds take can differ by asset type and by jurisdiction, so it is worth confirming which funding methods apply to you before you plan a payment run.

Ask: which funding methods apply to my jurisdiction and the assets I hold?

Conversion and movement

Once funded, value can be converted into any supported currency and moved over blockchain infrastructure.

Actual settlement times can vary depending on network conditions, jurisdiction and the nature of the transaction. Speed is a key focus in Xago's design, but timing is not fixed.

Ask: What can affect rates and timing?

Payout

Beneficiaries are paid into a bank account in local currency, or in stablecoin. Xago provides 16 on-platform currencies, and pays out in multiple additional jurisdictions via our partner network.

Ask: is my beneficiary's country and currency supported, and how are they paid?

Comprehensive transaction oversight

The process is designed to support transaction oversight. Transaction-status information is available from funding to payout, and on-chain activity creates a verifiable record that assists with reconciliation.

Ask: how are my transactions monitored and reported?

Checks that continue after onboarding

Alongside onboarding, Xago applies the following controls:

●        Client due diligence (KYC/KYB)

●        Real-time transaction monitoring

●        Ongoing sanctions screening

Licences

Xago states its licences and registrations as follows:

●        Authorised Financial Services Provider (FSP No. 53416), South Africa

●        Virtual Asset Service Provider (Licence No: 11/1/5-005), Botswana

●        Registered as a Digital Currency Exchange, AUSTRAC, Australia

Ask any provider which licences or registrations they hold, and where.

Pricing

Xago prices per transaction, with no monthly fees and no lock-in. The currencies page sets out the details.

Ask: what are the fees and how are the rates calculated?
