Built on stablecoins, built for speed: inside Xago's settlement rail

Xago
Stablecoin settlement

Stablecoins are an increasingly practical settlement layer for businesses that move money across borders. Here is how Xago's regulated on/off-ramp turns them into a streamlined settlement rail.

What is a stablecoin settlement rail?

A stablecoin is a digital token designed to track the value of a fiat currency such as the US dollar. A settlement rail is the infrastructure that carries value from payer to payee.

Xago's rail brings the two together. Businesses fund in fiat or stablecoin, value moves over blockchain infrastructure, and beneficiaries are paid out in local currency or stablecoin, all within a regulated framework.

The on/off-ramp: where stablecoin meets local currency

The on-ramp converts fiat currency into stablecoin. The off-ramp converts stablecoin back into local currency and pays it to a bank account. Xago provides local settlement in more than 60 countries and supports major stablecoins, including USDT and USDC.

Cross-border payment is the use case that makes the ramp valuable. A business can fund in the currency it holds, settle across the rail, and have the beneficiary paid in the currency they need. Because you can fund with fiat or stablecoin and convert into any supported currency, the same ramp also serves treasury and liquidity needs.

Efficient, integrated settlement

Speed is a key focus in Xago’s design. Our funding, conversion, and payout processes are connected within a single streamlined flow, minimising manual input and handovers between disparate systems. This integrated approach aims to deliver smooth and timely settlement experiences. Actual settlement times can vary depending on network conditions, jurisdiction and the nature of the transaction.

There are three steps from sign-up to settlement:

  1. Create. Complete standard KYC (individuals) or KYB (businesses).
  2. Fund. Fund with fiat or stablecoin and convert into any supported currency.
  3. Settle. Pay out to your bank account or to stablecoin beneficiaries.

Comprehensive transaction oversight, from funding to payout

Every stage of the process - funding, conversion and payout - is designed to support clear transaction oversight. On-chain activity creates a verifiable record that assists with reconciliation and audit. Finance and operations teams have access to consistent, synchronised information throughout the process.
