For businesses that move money across borders, an on/off-ramp is where local currency meets stablecoin infrastructure. Here is how Xago's on/off-ramp works, from sign-up to payout.
What is an on/off-ramp?
A stablecoin is a digital token designed to track the value of a fiat currency such as the US dollar. An on/off-ramp is the service that connects those tokens to the currencies businesses actually hold and pay in.
The on-ramp converts fiat currency into stablecoin. The off-ramp converts stablecoin back into local currency and pays it out. Together they let a business move value across borders over blockchain infrastructure without building or managing that infrastructure itself.
Step 1: Create your account
Before any money moves, Xago completes standard onboarding: KYC (know your customer) for individuals and KYB (know your business) for businesses. Our team guides you through each step, so you know exactly what is needed and what happens next.
Step 2: Fund
Fund in the currency you hold. Xago supports funding with fiat or stablecoin.
Step 3: Convert and move
Funds can be converted into any supported currency, and value moves over blockchain infrastructure. Xago's funding, conversion and payout processes are streamlined, and designed to minimise manual input and handovers between separate systems.
Actual settlement times can vary depending on jurisdictions and the nature of the transaction.
Step 4: Pay out
The off-ramp pays the beneficiary into a bank account in local currency, or in stablecoin. Xago provides 16 on-platform currencies, and pays out in multiple additional jurisdictions via our partner network.
Following a transaction
The process is designed to support clear transaction oversight. Finance and operations teams can follow transaction-status information from funding to payout, and on-chain activity creates a verifiable record that assists with reconciliation.
Where the on/off-ramp is used
Corporates and treasury teams use the ramp to pay suppliers, fund regional operations and manage multi-currency treasury. Fintechs and payment providers use it as a settlement partner, so they can offer cross-border features without building the infrastructure themselves. Developer documentation is published at docs.xago.io.
Priced per transaction
Xago prices per transaction, with no monthly fees and no lock-in. You only pay when the money moves.
